Adventure Bioscience is a startup company founded by faculty members at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. The company develops a sustainable, hemoglobin-based lotion that effectively repels ticks by absorbing the carbon dioxide released from human skin, making users essentially invisible to the pests. The venture took a major step forward through the Pitt innovation system after the founders entered the Pitt Innovation Challenge, hosted by the Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute. Supported by the Pitt Innovation Institute ecosystem, the team successfully transitioned their research from the laboratory into a commercialized startup.
